 The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin will serve as a high-level political forum to discuss the  future of peacekeeping . The first high-level session will address that for more than 75 years, UN Peacekeeping has been at the heart of international efforts to  maintain international peace and security . Today, it finds itself at a critical juncture: While remaining a vital and comparatively cost-effective tool for preventing, managing and resolving armed conflict, current and emerging challenges are testing its limits. This calls for forward-looking, innovative thinking to make this instrument fit for the future. In September 2024,  UN Member States  requested the  UN Secretary-General  to conduct a review on the future of all forms of  peace operations  in the " Pact for the Future ".
